Obamadan Michelle's a country girl, but which country? While Americans at large wonder how they are going to get through to tomorrow, the Obamas are living life grand. In August 2010, Michelle Obama took a short vacation to Madrid, trying to get away from the drudgery of living in the palatial White House. For her trip, MO borrowed a private an Air Force 757, three shifts of SS agents and military personnel, eight, White House staffers, deputy Chief of Staff Melissa Winter and Mrs. Obama’s personal assistant, Kristen Jarvis. The trip was billed as a "mother-daughter trip to see family friends." Cost to taxpayers: more than $400,000. Trips can be exhausting, as everyone knows, so two weeks later, President Barry took his loving spoonful and the kids to Martha's Vineyard to recover. There they feasted on an ice cream named Barack My World in His honor. Cost to taxpayers: more than $50,000. Oh, we've seen BO go to see where the economy has improved, but how many times have we seen him at tent cities or talking to those folks who never knew homelessness now living out of their cars? The answer is never. Many First Ladies have been ambassadors to peace. Dolley Madison is famous for rescuing all the art from the White House during the War of 1812 (and let us not forget those delicious pastries). Eleanore Roosevelt was renouned for her humanitarian efforts, Jacqueline Kennedy (later also an "O") for her decorating skills and snappy attire. Hillary Rodham Clinton virtually became co-President. Michelle O is, well, she's Barry's wife, and perhaps standing beside all that exuberance can be a tiring job in itself. So, perhaps we should cut her a little slack. After all, it would probably take any of the at least four years, maybe even eight, to get adjusted to all that responsibility. It seems that the Presidency just went to the Obamas' heads. Nouveau riche is the only way to describe it. Barry's Problems Barry's Solutions
A little less talk and a lot more action, Barry.
