Shards of Glass

TV Ad Campaign Tries Cutting Edge Humor

Commercials and webverts for shardsoglass.com or shardsofglass blast children with the idea that popsicles with glass shards somehow relates to the ill effects of smoking. The inane spoof website was created by the American Legacy Foundation from the $1.2 billion they received from the 1998 tobacco settlement.

In 2009, according to stats at FAQs.org, the American Legacy Foundation received more than $4 billion in contributions, both from private sources and from the government. This is a campaign that will cause no one to pack up their Marlboros and cost the American taxpayers millions of dollars that could have been put to more effective use, this being just one small part of the American Legacy Foundation's worthless anti-tobacco campaign.

Shards O' Glass
It's the sort of edgy humor that not even kids can swallow.
